Some of the most common fabrics that SHUKR uses are cottons, denim, linen, rayon and tencel. A lot of feedbacks that we received from our customers who get to look at our clothing and have a feel of the fabrics said that, our cotton fabrics might be too thick for hot and humid climate of our country Malaysia. We was initially at doubt whether the clothing could make a sell and of course we want the best for you. We wish to provide you with modest clothing that just not look goods and stylish but also comfortable enough for daily wear.
And so... in our quest to just bring the best for you, I choose a prototype (which means my most favourite cotton made garment!) and have a go on a day test! (which I happily did for you! hehe!). So our test was to have a feel of wearing this dress under the sun and see whether I will soak in sweat or not (oh no!). My prototype garment of the day is a khaki green Nuwwarah Dress made of 100% cotton. And bear in mind I did this test on a very busy and important day for me, of the week! On the day of the test, I will have my interview for a Project Engineer position with a consultant company and also attend a full day seminar at my workplace. And also have to do some grocery shopping after office hour. (I would expect that is basically a typical daily activities for a career women ey?)
So I did the test and the finding was......
Of course being in an air conditioned room at the interview place and seminar does not help much with the test. The dress is prefectly fine if you work in an air conditioned office! But the travel back and forth from the interview place, seminar and shopping was the real challenge. At the end of the day, I concluded that the fabrics is perfectly fine for our climate. It was exactly the similar feeling of wearing cotton t-shirt that we normally wear here in Malaysia (except that the elegant feeling that the dress gives which is a toootally different feeling I would say!)
Plus the advantage of wearing 100% cotton made clothes are, it breaths well and very soft. Being able to breath easily makes people who wear cotton feel cool and comfortable. Synthetic fibres oppositely can trap moistures, causing rashes and odor. And of course we love the feeling of soft material on our skin. The great advantage of cotton is that it is extremely soft! All in all the dress is simply great!

In terms of style, Nuwwarah Dress is my personal favourite. I think that it looks formal enough as an office attire and casual enough for leisure event. And having to wear that dress for the day, gave me some positive feedbacks from a few friends, who told me that the dress is beautiful and they have never seen such design before! They even asked me where I bought it. So, I gave them a link to Ar-Raqaiq Modest Clothing and a catalogue for them to look at!
And... of course I keep this piece for my personal collection... would you like to have it in yours?
Love,
Ar-Raqaiq
